Richmond Black Restaurant Experience Fall Remix: Food trucks, vendors and more

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- 8News got a visit from two special guests on Thursday to talk about Richmond Black Restaurant Experience (RBRE) as they return this year with a special fall edition of their usual events.
8News anchors Autumn Childress and Delaney Hall were joined by Shemicia Bowen, founder of Richmond Black Restaurant Experience, and Lamar Johnson, owner of Pig & Brew and Red Hibachi, to talk about this year's twist on RBRE.
"First of all -- it's fall. We usually kick off Richmond Black Restaurant Experience in the spring, you'll see us again, in the spring, but we wanted to be able to have some fun throughout the entire year, promoting these Black businesses and promoting our partners and sponsors throughout the year," Bowen said.
Johnson brought several samples of dishes offered at Pig & Brew, including smoked wings, string beans, mac and cheese, pulled chicken with coleslaw and North Carolina mince pork barbeque -- with their homemade barbeque sauce.
The experience will kick off on Mobile Soul Sunday, Sept. 14 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Monroe Park, with food trucks, vendors and more -- and will continue through Sept. 21 with a plethora of different participating local restaurants.
