Richmond expands boil water advisory, now includes some Southside residents
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- More neighborhoods have been added to Richmond's boil water advisory.
The morning of Tuesday, May 27, a boil water advisory was issued for several Richmond neighborhoods after multiple water filters at the city's water treatment plant were clogged, ultimately causing a decrease in water pressure.
While the initial advisory only included a specific set of neighborhoods served by the Ginter Park tank, as of 5:52 p.m., some Southside residents are now being asked to boil their water before using it for most purposes.
The newly added neighborhoods are along the Commerce Road and Richmond Highway corridors. This includes the communities of Ancarrow’s Landing, Bellemeade, Blackwell, the Commerce Road Industrial Area, Hillside Court, Davee Gardens, Manchester, Oak Grove and Windsor. This does not include Windsor Farms.

- Carver

- Ginter Park
- Jackson Ward

Within these areas, some residents and businesses may experience a total loss of water service. Others may experience varying water pressure.
"As a cautionary measure, ALL residents are asked to conserve water to ensure all needs are met during this time," the city said. "We will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide updates to our customers as new information becomes available."
The city added that additional advisories will be issued if needed.
