Richmond falls in Atlantic 10 Semifinals to Saint Joseph’s on last second shot

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The University of Richmond women's basketball team lost in the Atlantic 10 Tournament semifinals on Saturday, falling to No. 4 Saint Joseph’s 50-49 on a last-second layup. The Spiders (27-6) had their 17-game winning streak snapped, while the Hawks (23-8) move on to face No. 2 George Mason in the championship.

Richmond led 26-25 at halftime and 40-37 after three quarters. The game went back and forth in the final minutes, with Maggie Doogan briefly putting the Spiders ahead 49-48 with three seconds left before SJU’s buzzer-beater sealed the win.

Rachel Ullstrom led Richmond with 16 points, and Addie Budnik added 10. Budnik and Anna Camden had five rebounds each, and Doogan led with three assists. Richmond shot 42.2% from the field and 31.6% from three. This was the Spiders' first loss since January 2 against Fordham.
