Richmond hosted its 22nd annual vegan festival ‘VegFest’

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Richmond hosted its 22nd annual VegFest Sunday, Sept. 28, filled with vendors, activities and several vegan options for everyone.
The festival was free for attendees and held at Byrd Park from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. This year's Veg Fest was free for attendees. However they also accept donations upon entry and online, "your impact is invaluable."
The festival is perfect for those who are vegan, as everything sold at the festival will be vegan, according to the website. Over 100 vendors were also in attendance at Sunday's festival, including over 50 food vendors for attendees to choose from.
8News spoke with Lead Coordinator of the festival, Amanda Trenchard, who shared in detail what the festival is about and what people can expect.

"We really strive to make our festival truly for everybody to attend. We don't just want vegans and vegetarians to attend, we want everybody to come out [and] enjoy a beautiful day at the park."
Trenchard also said that there is fun for everyone as the festival also has fun activities for kids and the whole family to enjoy.
The festival also aims to make vegan food seem more accessible and help people find more vegan restaurant options.
"I really hope that people come out and they leave the day feeling like they enjoyed their day and they feel energized, and more empowered and excited to try eating vegan food a little more often," the Lead Coordinator shared.
Trenchard said her favorite part of VegFest is seeing everyone around her enjoying the festivities. According to her, the event sees around 10,000 people throughout the course of the festival.
