Richmond man dies days after driver hit him in Henrico
HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A Richmond man died in the hospital days after a driver hit him in Henrico County.
At about 8:40 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 20, officers with the Henrico County Police Division were called to the 6300 block of Monument Avenue for report of a crash involving a pedestrian.
When they arrived, they found 43-year-old Shawn Quentin Ford of Richmond down in the roadway. According to police, he had been walking in the westbound right lane when he was hit by the unidentified driver of a Chevrolet Equinox.
Ford was taken to a local hospital by first responders with the Henrico County Division of Fire with life-threatening injuries. Five days later, on Tuesday, Feb. 25, he died in the hospital as a result of those injuries.
Ashland Police asks for help solving 23-year-old cold case
According to police, the driver of the Equinox stayed at the scene after the crash and is cooperating with detectives.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation -- however, police said that speed, drugs and alcohol are not believed to be factors.
