Richmond man found guilty of trying to traffic over 95 pounds of methamphetamine, cocaine
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- A Richmond man was found guilty of trying to traffic over 95 pounds of methamphetamine and cocaine.
On Wednesday, Feb. 25, 34-year-old Alexander "Rambo" Martinez of Richmond was found guilty of attempted possession with intent to distribute cocaine and methamphetamine, according to a Feb. 26 press release from the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ).
Per court documents, in mid-February 2023, law enforcement intercepted two packages that each contained about five pounds of methamphetamine and about 2.4 pounds of cocaine.
The first package was addressed to Martinez, while the second package was addressed to a person who told law enforcement that Martinez was their marijuana dealer, according to the DOJ.

In July 2023, law enforcement in Fresno, California intercepted a third package. This one, which was bound for Richmond, contained 85 pounds of methamphetamine and a little over two pounds of cocaine.
Law enforcement seized these drugs, replaced them with "'sham' narcotics" and carried out a controlled delivery to Martinez at a Hanover County truck stop. Martinez accepted the two boxes law enforcement provided, per the DOJ.
Following this exchange, law enforcement attempted to pull Martinez over, but he reportedly did not stop. He then crashed his vehicle. Martinez tried to run away, but he was caught by law enforcement.
The combined weight of the drugs in the three packages involved in this case is just over 95 pounds.
Martinez faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in prison. He will be sentenced on July 15.
