Richmond Oktoberfest will return for its 55th year

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The annual Richmond Oktoberfest will be returning for its 55th year this October, with pastries, bratwurst and activities.

From 6 to 10 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 17, and 3 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 18, the 55th annual Richmond Oktoberfest will be heading back to the Old Dominion Building at the Richmond Raceway Complex, located at 600 East Laburnum Ave. in Richmond.

According to organizers, Oktoberfest will feature live entertainment, including “Die Lustigen Almdudler," Hirschjaeger Bavarian Dancers and beer garden music from Dan Smith in the Biergarten.

The festival will also include multiple drink options, including beers from Warsteiner, Paulaner and Bitburger, including Oktoberfest styles, Pilsners, Lagers, Hefe–Weisse, Märzens, Dunkels and non-alcoholic beers, as well as German wines and Pepsi-branded soft drinks, water and coffee.

Along with delicious food options like Bratwurst, Knackwurst, Weisswurst and German tortes, pastries and breads, attendees can also enjoy party music, Kinder Korner with games and activities and a “Bier Stein” hoisting contest at the 55th Oktoberfest, per organizers.

The cost to attend is $10 per person for one day, with both days costing $15 each for those 16 years and older.

Organizers said that while they have not announced the details, they will be partnering with a few hotels near the Richmond Raceway Complex for those planning to stay overnight.
