Richmond opens application for funds after water crisis
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The City of Richmond has begun accepting applications for funds to assist with recovery following the water crisis. Richmond Mayor Danny Avula kicked off the fund with a $25,000 donation from his PAC committee. In addition, donations to the fund were and continue to be accepted. The fund, called the "Family Crisis Fund," is open to any Richmond resident, but it’s specifically focused on those already struggling financially before the water crisis occurred. Eligible expenses include rent, mortgage, childcare, utilities, healthcare and car payments. If you are selected, the money will go directly to billers, though amounts may vary because the fund is donation-based. Eligible residents can apply by calling 311 or by visiting RVA 311's website. According to the application, eligible households can receive up to $2,500.
