Richmond Police officer injured in crash at Henrico intersection after driver runs red light

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A Richmond Police Department officer was injured in a three-vehicle crash after police say another driver ran a red light in Henrico County early Sunday morning.

According to the Henrico County Police Division, the call came in at 12:52 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 9, for a report of a crash at the intersection of Mechanicsville Turnpike and E. Laburnum Ave. in Henrico County's East Highland Park area.

Police said an early investigation shows that another vehicle went through a red light, resulting in the crash.

Following the crash, the officer complained of leg pain and was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the police spokesperson.

Richmond Police Department was also on scene of the crash.

Charges are pending, though investigators are continuing to investigate.
