Richmond Public Schools chief operating officer Dana Fox resigns

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Richmond Public Schools' chief operating officer Dana Fox has resigned, according to the school system.

A press release shared by Richmond Public Schools said that her resignation is effective at the end of February.

"She’s made the move to work closer to home, and to prioritize her family," the announcement reads.

Fox began working at Richmond Public Schools as the director of school construction in 2021, then was promoted to chief operating officer in 2022.

"In her three years with RPS, she’s led the construction of Richmond High School For the Arts, the rebuilding of Fox Elementary after a fire, and begun the design process for a new Woodville Elementary," the message said. "Additionally, she has overseen the modernization of RPS’ infrastructure, including conducting RPS’ first-ever facilities conditions assessment, installing upgraded fire safety systems, and implementing a new work-order system. She’s secured nearly $50 million in grant funding to support this work."

A search for her replacement will reportedly begin shortly.
