Richmond seeks public feedback on quality of life, services with 2026 Community Survey
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The city of Richmond is inviting residents to share input on the city's Mayoral Action Plan (MAP), quality of life and public services through the 2026 Richmond Community Survey.
On Thursday, Feb. 26, city officials announced that the survey has been mailed to 4,000 randomly selected households throughout the city.
According to a release, the survey gives Richmonders a chance to provide feedback on a number of topics, including Mayor Danny Avula's MAP, which was released in October 2025 and lays out his plan for a "thriving" Richmond. The 25-page strategy outlines ways to meet community and housing needs, support families and children, improve the city's economy, protect residents’ rights and build a “greener” community, among others.
“We encourage every household that receives the survey in the mail to take a few minutes to complete it,” Avula said in a release. “Your feedback shapes how Richmond invests in services that matter most; whether that’s public safety, parks, infrastructure, or community development.”
According to a release, the Richmond Community Survey leverages the National Community Survey, a reportedly statistically representative resident survey used by American local governments.
The survey is said to measure public opinion on community livability, satisfaction with city services, resident priorities, community engagement and local government performance perceptions, per a release.
Survey responses will then help city leaders find both strengths and areas to improve, along with where the city falls compared to nearby localities. This survey can also inform leaders about future budgeting and policy priorities.
Results from the survey will be available on the City Auditor's webpage, and information about the "Mayoral Action Plan" can be found here.
