Richmond’s beloved veggie-friendly restaurant Ipanema Café closes

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Beloved vegetarian and vegan-friendly restaurant Ipanema Café has closed, according to its website.

The restaurant and bar was located in a basement-level space at 917 West Grace Street in Richmond's Fan District, just a few blocks from Virginia Commonwealth University's Monroe Park campus, right in the heart of downtown Richmond.

According to Ipanema Café's Instagram, the location has been open since 1998.

Though the restaurant's website said it has temporarily closed, its location on Google Maps is labeled "permanently closed."

Nearby businesses along Grace Street include Thai Top ten, Rick's Pizza, Spoon and Plaza Artist Materials.
