Roads to close as Richmond Marathon races into the city this weekend
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — On Saturday, Nov. 16, the streets of Richmond will come to life with the footsteps of thousands of runners as the annual Richmond Marathon returns with a record-breaking turnout. Organizers confirmed that over 20,000 runners have registered to participate in one of three events: the marathon, half marathon, and an 8K run. This figure marks the highest participation since 2014, which promises an exciting but congested weekend for the city. In anticipation of the event, officials have outlined extensive road closures to ensure runner safety, with some roads expected to close by 9 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 14. A detailed list of road closures can be found here. Any vehicles parked along the race course at 9 p.m. Friday will be towed. For participants, race registration and packet pickup begins at 3 p.m. on Thursday at the Richmond Raceway.
