Science Museum of Virginia to hold Science After Dark event in October

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The Science Museum of Virginia is set to host a Science After Dark event in October with Halloween-themed fun for people of all ages.

This month's Science After Dark: Spooky Science event will be made even more special by the addition of The Power of Poison touring exhibition.

People will get the chance to partake in STEM activities such as:

  • Touch a hissing cockroach, explore a worm-filled composting bin and hold a real snake skin in the Creepy Crawly Room -- as well as meet animals from the Reptile Education of Virginia
  • Learn about poisonous plants and ways to detect them -- like poison ivy, poison oak and poisonous trees
  • Try a flavored bug in the Boost kitchen
  • And more!

There will also be a Halloween-themed Laser Show at The Dome, which can be added to the Science After Dark experience for $5.
