Science Museum of Virginia to host birdwatching, photography event for local seniors

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The Science Museum of Virginia is calling all seniors to join them in a relaxing morning of photography and birdwatching.

The event will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 17, from 8 to 10 a.m., with check-in at 7:30 a.m., and will include a walk through their new path, The Green and ProtoPath, where seniors can see native and migratory birds.

To enhance the experience, the museum says they'll discuss best practices for capturing images of the outdoors.

"Whether you’re a seasoned birder, an aspiring photographer or simply enjoy the beauty of the outdoors, bring your camera for this opportunity to connect with nature and like-minded enthusiasts," according to the Science Museum of Virginia.

The museum says the program is designed to help engage seniors 60 and up by connecting them, exercising their creativity, encouraging them to discover the life and science around them and helping deepen their appreciation for STEM.

This senior mornings event is limited to the first 30 registrants. The Senior Mornings Program does not include admission into the museum.

Tickets for the event can be found here.
