Science Museum of Virginia unveils new exhibit with 17 life-size dinosaur skeletons
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The new "Ultimate Dinosaurs" exhibition will roar its way into the Science Museum of Virginia this summer.
Starting Saturday, May 31 through Sept. 1, The Science Museum will welcome "Ultimate Dinosaurs," a new interactive exhibition that unveils a wide range of dinosaurs that evolved from the past.
According to the Science Museum, the exhibition will highlight 17 life-size skeletons and dozens of fossil specimens cast from fossil modes.
"Ultimate Dinosaurs" is said to tell a story about the split of the supercontinent Pangaea into the landforms we know today, and shows how continental drift impacted the evolution of dinosaurs in the Mesozoic Era.

“From the tiny and fast Eoraptor to the massive and menacing Giganotosaurus, our planet was inhabited by fascinating theropods, abelisaurs, spinosaurs and other dinosaur species long before humans ever came along,” said the Science Museum’s Virginia C. Ellett Deputy Director for Education Timshel Purdum. “Guests will be amazed at the crests, frills, sails, feathers and other unique features the dinosaurs in this exhibition had. It’s certainly going to leave a lasting impression.”
This summer, the Science Museum is also anticipating the giant screen film "Dinosaurs of Antarctica," showing in The Dome. The film is a 45-minute feature, which follows scientists exploring prehistoric creatures that once lived in Antarctica. It premieres exclusively on May 31 and June 1 and will be shown daily throughout the summer.
In addition, there will be a few dinosaur-themed events for guests to attend this summer, which includes sensory-friendly Minds of All Kinds on July 12, Science on Tap for adults on July 24, and a Sunrise Science talk with paleontologist Dr. Jennifer Anné on Aug. 25.
