Search underway at Shenandoah National Park for missing 61-year-old man

PAGE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A search is underway at Shenandoah National Park for a missing 61-year-old man last seen in the area of Lewis Falls on Saturday.

According to a spokesperson for the park, a search is underway for 61-year-old Robert Bieri, who was reported missing to park rangers on the evening of Saturday, July 5.

Officials said Bieri was last seen off-trail in the area of Lewis Falls on Saturday. He was reportedly wearing a short-sleeved red shirt, green shorts, a fanny pack, glasses and tennis shoes.

Bieri stands about 5-feet-10-inches tall, weighs about 205 pounds and has grey hair and brown eyes.

According to the spokesperson, Shenandoah National Park activated a full-scale search operation in the late evening on Saturday.

The search is reportedly being led by Shenandoah National Park Search and Rescue personnel with the help of the Virginia Department of Emergency Management and Virginia State Police.
