Shelter in place lifted at UVA, police continue to search for suspect
UPDATE 1:53 P.M. CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WFXR) – The University of Virginia Police Department has reported that the shelter-in-place has been lifted.
Police believe the suspect has left the area, however, police will remain on the scene.
Classes will resume on Wednesday.

shelter-in-placeUPDATE 11:11 A.M. CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WFXR) – Virginia State Police have released an update regarding the situation that led to a shelter in place at UVA.
According to VSP, after officers attempted to pull over a Chevrolet Impala on Fontaine Ave, the suspect allegedly refused to stop, leading to a pursuit.
During the chase, the suspect allegedly exited the car while it was still in drive. The Impala then hit a VSP vehicle and at least one more car.
No injuries were reported.
The suspect was then seen in the University Heights Apartment Complex and a perimeter was established with the Charlottesville, Albemarle, and UVA Police Departments.
An on-ground and air search are currently being conducted.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WFXR) – The University of Virginia Police Department and community members are currently under a shelter-in-place while police are looking for a suspect.
UVA PD said that Nyheem Hill was last seen near Alderman Road a fled the scene on foot after an off-grounds traffic stop near IVY Road.
Hill is known to have a criminal history along with gang affiliation.
Police said that all UVA community members and students should remain sheltered in place until further notice.
