Signing Day returns to celebrate Henrico Public Schools seniors and their future career opportunities

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Henrico County Public Schools will be holding its seventh annual Career and Technical Education Letter-of-Intent Signing Day for seniors next Tuesday, April 22.

The event will be held at Henrico County Public Library’s Libbie Mill location. The ceremony will start at 10 a.m. and will have three signing sessions starting at 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

Students will come together with representatives of their future employers to sign agreements making their futures official.

According to the press release, "The event is aimed at honoring high school seniors entering the workforce equipped with skills they’ve learned at the division’s Advanced Career Education Centers."

The celebration is meant to mirror the ceremonies used to honor high school athletes who sign letters of commitment to play for college athletic teams. In this case, however, college seniors will be signing their letter of intent to enter the workforce.

The letters will outline what the student must do both before and during employment, what the employer will provide and an estimate of the position's value. The students will also get the chance to wear a hat or clothing with the employer's logo on it.
