‘Something exciting is taking shape’: Progress continues at Lucks Field Community Center

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The Richmond Parks and Recreation Department revealed a sneak peek at the progress being made on the Lucks Field Community Center in a social post on Wednesday.

"Something exciting is taking shape in our community," the social post reads, describing the new development as "a vibrant space in the making where neighbors will gather, play, and grow together."

The video showed a brand new playground with a sunshade, an indoor gym with a basketball court, an upstairs lounge space and a second basketball court -- this time on the roof of the center.

Work on Lucks Field began in October 2023, with plans to serve more than 30,000 residents with walkability from nine different neighborhoods.

According to the social post, opening day will be on Friday, Sept. 12.
