South Hill police chief on administrative leave due to ‘personnel matters’
MECKLENBURG COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- The police chief of South Hill has recently been placed on administrative leave due to "personnel matters."
According to a statement from Town Manager Keli Reekes on Tuesday, Oct. 14, Police Chief Greg Geist is on paid administrative leave as of the time of reporting due to "personnel matters that are both highly sensitive and confidential in nature."
Geist was appointed police chief on Sept. 11, 2024, after being with the South Hill Police Department since January 2023 and serving several roles in other law enforcement capacities for 19 years before that, per a Facebook post from the town.

At this time, the Town is unable to share additional details, as the circumstances surrounding his leave involve personnel matters that are both highly sensitive and confidential in nature. Protecting the privacy and dignity of our employees is of utmost importance to the Town of South Hill. An internal review is actively underway and remains ongoing.” -- Town Manager Keli Reekes
