‘Special activity incident’ on I-95 causes delays in Richmond

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- An incident on Interstate 95, labeled as a "Special Activity Incident" by VDOT, caused significant delays for drivers in Richmond on Tuesday. The incident was first reported around 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 24 and was located on I-95 South near the Maury Street exit. According to VDOT, all southbound lanes were closed until around 7 p.m. 8News reached out to Virginia State Police who said they were "assisting Henrico with traffic control." The Henrico County Police Division said they were assisting the Richmond Police Department with the apprehension of a carjacking suspect. 8News has reached out to Richmond Police for more information but has not yet received a response.
