St. Louis law enforcement searching for possible victims in Henrico after alleged serial rapist arrested

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A man accused of numerous instances of rape was arrested earlier this month in St. Louis, Mo. Law enforcement officials are now searching across the country for any other victims, including Henrico County.

The St. Louis County prosecuting attorney's office has issued numerous felony counts against 28-year-old former Henrico resident Yahya Maly including:

  • Two counts of Rape or Attempted Rape First Degree
  • Seven counts of Rape Second Degree
  • Two counts of Kidnapping First Degree
  • Two counts of Sodomy or Attempted Sodomy First Degree

Maly was a Henrico County resident from 2013 to 2021. The St. Louis County Police Department said Maly is currently a resident of Ballwin, Mo.

According to police, he used the alias name, "John," on dating apps where he met most of his victims.

8News reached out to the Henrico County Police Division for more information, a spokesperson responded with the following statement:

"The Henrico County Police Division has not been contacted by the St. Louis County Police Department about Mr. Maly’s arrest. However, we encourage anyone who may have been a victim of a crime here in Henrico County to please contact us at (804) 501-5000. We do not have any sexual assault reports during that timeframe in connection to Mr. Maly."

Maly is currently being held on a $500,000 cash-only bond.
