Steve Martin, Martin Short’s Richmond show canceled due to COVID-19 illness

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- "The Dukes of Funnytown" show, headlined by Steve Martin and Martin Short, will no longer go on this Saturday at Richmond's Allianz Amphitheater at the Riverfront, as Martin has come down with COVID-19.

The comedy show was originally scheduled for 8 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 20. Martin and Short were also meant to perform at The Dome in Virginia Beach on Friday, Sept. 19.

However, Friday evening, Allianz Amphitheater and The Dome put out a joint statement saying that both shows were being canceled "out of an abundance of caution" because Martin was sick with COVID-19.

"I can’t possibly do the shows that you deserve," Martin said on his personal Instagram. "So Marty and I must cancel tonight & tomorrow. But we will return under better circumstances."
