StormTracker 8: Extreme heat through Wednesday

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) - VIPIR Alert through Wednesday for the extreme heat, please take the appropriate precautions.

It will be a hazy hot and humid day across Central Virginia with highs in the upper 90s but the heat index will make it feel more like 110 and that's why we have excessive heat warnings in effect for most of central Virginia today.

We will continue with clear skies for tonight and it will be rather muggy or even steamy with overnight lows in the middle 70s.

Tuesday and Wednesday will continue the theme of hazy hot and humid conditions with highs again in the upper 90s and the heat index could hit or even exceed 110°.

Thursday will feature partly sunny skies and there's the chance of maybe a pop-up shower storm late in the day otherwise the theme of the intense heat will continue with highs in the middle to upper 90s and the heat index around 105 or slightly higher.

Looking ahead to Friday, Saturday, and Sunday it will much of the same hazy hot and humid with highs in the middle 90s and the heat index around 105 and there could be the chance of a pop-up shower storm late in the day but again most of us will stay dry.
