StormTracker 8: Hot and Humid Monday; Rain and Storms Tuesday

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) - We can expect a hot start to the week here in central Virginia, but changes are coming soon. Highs today will be in the low 90s with clearing skies through the day. Isolated showers and storms will be possible this afternoon, but chances are very slim. Tonight, temperatures will drop into the mid-70s and we will have partly to mostly cloudy skies.

Heat indices this afternoon could still surpass 100°, so stay hydrated and take breaks in the A/C.

Tomorrow morning won't be much different, but tomorrow afternoon we will have higher rain chances thanks to a cold front. Highs could still reach the low 90s. Expect scattered rain and storms beginning as early as 3pm and lasting into the early morning hours of Wednesday. Rainfall totals could exceed 1 inch in some locations.

Wednesday afternoon, we will clear up and stay clear and sunny for the 4th of July weekend. Temperatures will be in the low 90s, slightly above normal for this time of year.

In the tropics, there is a low chance of development for an area over the state of Florida. They will be closely monitoring for a rainmaker, or tropical development.
