StormTracker 8: Mild for Election Day

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) - Mild, but somewhat ho-hum weather is on the way to the area for Election Day. Tonight, we will stay mostly cloudy in the area.  Some patchy fog could develop for the late night and early morning hours over us.  Lows will be near 50 for much of the area. Election Day will be partly sunny and mild for us here.  The clouds should be thicker in the morning and thin out a bit in the afternoon.   Highs will reach into he upper 70s for much of the region. Wednesday will be “more of the same” over the area.   We will see partly sunny to partly cloudy skies and it will be warm.  Highs will be near 80. Thursday, some moisture from ‘Rafael” will be pulled up into the state.  So the clouds will be a little thicker over us and there is a low end chance for some showers.  Also, a cold front (what is causing all the severe weather in the Plains) that will drop in from the north which could enhance the chance of a shower. After a quiet day on Friday, we will enter a period over the weekend with the opportunity for some showers in the area. We are so dry right now that we will take every drop of rain we can get.  The window for rain opens up on Saturday afternoon right now and the best chance might be on Sunday morning. Highs will be a little cooler, as we head back into the 60s. An extended period of dry weather makes a return early next week into the area. In the Tropics, ‘Rafael” is still organizing to the south of Cuba. This should turn into a hurricane as it heads for the western tip of Cuba by midweek.  After that, it moves over the somewhat cooler waters of the Gulf of Mexico which should cause it to lose energy as it heads for the U.S.  Parts of the Gulf Coast Region could be in for a nice rain however.
