StormTracker 8: Milder weather to return
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -Ok, the storm is gone from the area and the snow will melt over the next few days as we return to seasonable temperatures by the middle of the upcoming weekend. The big winner in snowfall were in the Hampton Roads area and down into North Carolina where parts of Currituck County saw over a foot of snow!
Skies will be clear tonight, but it will be brisk as the breezes will combine with temperatures headed into the mid to upper teens to create windchills that could drop into the single digits in a few spots by early Friday.
Friday will be sunny in the area with highs warming back up to near 40.
Over the weekend, expect to see mostly sunny skies. After a brisk start on Saturday (but without the wind chills) you should see highs in the lower 40s.
Sunday afternoon we will see highs warming to near 50 degrees.
Early next week, the weather flow will be “zonal” over the nation—or more west to east. This will serve to allow for us to warm up a bit with highs in the 50s to near 60.
The next weather system will be on the way sometime around Thursday. Right now, that shapes up to be rain over the area with the mountains possibly having a mix.
Following we head into March where there are signs of another outbreak of arctic air that would “energize” the storm patterns once again.
