StormTracker 8: Rain tonight with milder temps Thursday
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -One more night of wintry weather over the area (mainly to our west) and then we will get a little break before the next rounds of nasty weather come our way.
For tonight, we are going to have rain over us through the evening, and then it will take a little bit of a break through the overnight hours.
To our west, out in the Piedmont and areas west of US-29 we do have Winter Storm Warnings and Winter Weather Advisories for more ice. The Purple area on the map (Higher elevations) are under and Ice Storm Warning.
As far as temperatures are concerned, they will be on a slow rise throughout the night. Combine this with the rain, and we should be reducing some of the stress on the trees from ice.
Tomorrow, you will see rain in the morning, but then some sunshine in the afternoon. That will let us jump up into the 50s for high temperatures, which will really melt a lot of stuff out there.
Friday will be a “boring” day for us. Mostly Sunny skies are on tap for the area with a cool high in the mid 40s.
Saturday, for the Colonial Half Marathon and when “Baby Rumley” is arriving, we have more rain. It looks like it won’t show up until the afternoon hours and continue into the evening. Parts of Northern Virginia could see a wintry mix.
Then on Sunday, the showers exit early, and we have a mild afternoon.
After that, we turn to two things next week.
First, a risk of moderate flooding on area rivers due to all the moisture from this week between the rain and the snow that will melt. That is looming for early next week.
Second, yep another winter storm which looks to be lining up for Wednesday into Thursday.
Right now it some kind of snow/ice combo for us. Details to become clearer over the next few days.
