StormTracker 8: Snow tonight into Saturday morning
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -VIPIR Alert from 7pm tonight until 10am tomorrow morning Winter Storm WARNINGS are in effect in the southern half of the state, while Winter Weather Advisories for some areas to the north and west. Warnings mean greater impacts, Advisories less in the way of impacts. We are going to get snow tonight with the heaviest concentrated south of I-64 in most locations and diminishing amounts going north. So, Chesterfield gets more than Hanover, and Dinwiddie gets more than Caroline. It all moves in from west to east this evening between 7 and 10pm. During the overnight hours we are going to see some periods of moderate (1/2” per hour) snow over the area in the darker blue, while a little bit of mixing might make it into southeastern Virginia. This will rapidly come to an end tomorrow morning in the area with just a few lingering flurries. Sunshine will return for the afternoon and highs should make it into the mid to upper 30s. Sunny skies will be around for Sunday over us, and Monday will be “balmy” compared to what we have seen lately. But another cold front comes through for the middle of the week and that will reload the chilly temperature over the area. Still watching for the chance of a system next weekend.
