StormTracker 8: Tropical Storm Chantal brings more humidity & storms to the area
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) - Tropical Storm Chantal made landfall in South Carolina earlier this morning and will bring us impacts today and tomorrow. Tropical moisture will be with us bringing the risk of scattered showers and storms through Monday evening.
Partly sunny skies start the day and clouds will quickly increase. A few isolated showers could move in as early as late morning, but most of us will stay dry until this afternoon. Scattered showers and a few storms move in this afternoon and evening and most activity looks to stay south of I-64 today. High temperatures will be in the middle to upper 80s and it will be humid.
A few showers could linger into the overnight hours, but most of us will be dry with mostly cloudy skies. Overnight lows drop into the middle 70s.
More scattered showers and storms are with us throughout the day tomorrow, but it won't be a washout of a day. High temperatures will be near the middle 80s. When all is said and done, the higher rainfall accumulations will stay south of I-64 and east of I-95 with a widespread 1"-2" expected with locally higher amounts possible.
The remnants of Chantal moves out of the area Monday night and rain chances decrease for Tuesday and Wednesday.
We will see partly cloudy skies for Tuesday and Wednesday with the risk of afternoon and evening isolated storms. High temperatures will be in the low 90s and when you factor in the humidity heat indices will be in the triple digits.
The unsettled weather continues through the end of the week with more scattered showers and storms in the forecast for Thursday and Friday. Temperatures look to stay seasonable with highs near 90.
As we head into next weekend a few hit or miss showers and storms are around for Saturday before we see a dry finish to the weekend.
