StormTracker8: Clouds and spotty showers through Friday
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) – It's going to be another cloudy day with showers on and off. Rain will be light in intensity, and thunderstorms are not a concern today. Highs are looking to stay just below 80° for most of Central Virginia. Isolated showers could linger into the night.
The remainder of this week will be much the same, with mostly cloudy to overcast skies, and highs below normal for the beginning of August. Chances for light spotty showers will stick around through Friday.
This weekend, there is a possibility the rain will let up. Highs will be on the rise.
Highs will return to near normal by the start of next week. As humidity goes up, "feels like" temperatures could go up as well. Summer isn't over yet!
Tracking the tropics:
Tropical Storm Dexter has winds of 40mph and it is continuing to move out into the North Atlantic and really has no bearing on our weather here in Central Virginia other than providing rip currents for all of the beaches from Delaware through Maryland to Virginia Beach and the Outer Banks.
We are watching for the potential for more tropical development off the coast of Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina as we move closer to the end of the week and this area has about a 40% chance of seeing some sort of development.
Finally, the last area that we are watching is out in the far Eastern Atlantic which has a 50% chance of developing in the next 7 days.
