StormTracker8: Cooler End to the Week
Richmond, Va (WRIC) -- It's a gorgeous day out there. The snow and ice is melting away, leaving behind plenty of puddles and mud. Overnight we will drop back into the 20s and see clearing skies.
Tomorrow's highs will return to the upper 40s, slightly below normal for this time of year. Skies will be mostly sunny. We'll repeat this - lows in the 20s and highs in the upper 40s - on Friday. Cooler than what we experienced today, but still not too bad.
Saturday, Valentine's Day, clouds will increase. Highs could spike into the mid 50s. Not a bad day for a date. The evening hours will be categorized by cloudy skies and temperatures steadily dropping. Rain isn't expected to start until early Sunday morning.
Sunday is forecast to be a total washout. We could be seeing showers for western counties as early as 3am, with all of Central Virginia dealing with light to moderate rainfall around sunrise.
Southern portions of the state could see near an inch of rain, while metro Richmond and further north will see half an inch or less. Highs on Sunday will be kept to the mid 40s. Right now, winter precipitation is not expected for Central Virginia, but northern portions of the state could see some.
The start of next week will be pleasant, with highs in the 50s and lows in the 30s. A warming trend is looking likely for next week!
