StormTracker8: Seasonable Saturday; Arctic air Sunday & Monday
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) – Clear skies will be tonight, and it will be cold with our overnight lows falling into the middle 20s.
Sunny skies will start our Saturday, but a few clouds will break out during the afternoon making it partly sunny. It will be a seasonable day with highs around 50.

Saturday night clouds will increase as a weak weather system, known as an Alberta Clipper, slides by to our north. This will bring us the risk of some flurries and snow showers across Central Virginia mainly north of I-64 early Sunday morning beginning around 2:00 a.m. and lasting until about 9:00 or 10:00 a.m. most of central Virginia will just have some flurries and snow showers but there is the possibility of a dusting to 1 in of snow for areas from Tappahannock to Fredericksburg and northeast.
That weather system will slide through the region early Sunday and behind it we will see a significant push of Arctic air and that will begin to settle in during Sunday afternoon and evening. Our high temperatures on Sunday will top out in the lower 30s but that will be early in the morning, in fact our temperatures will drop into the 20s during the afternoon with wind chills in the teens.
Overnight Sunday into Monday, the core of the arctic air will slide into us pushing our overnight lows back into the middle teens and our wind chills could be in the single digits for early Monday morning.
Monday will be a sunny but very chilly day with highs only around 32 and wind chills will remain in the 20s.
We will start to see a little moderation on Tuesday as we climb into the lower 40s under sunny skies.
Wednesday will feature partly sunny skies, and it will be seasonable with highs near 55.
Looking ahead to the end of the week we will see a few more clouds for Thursday and Friday with highs in the upper 50s to near 60 on Thursday and middle 50s on Friday.
