StormTracker8: Snow is still possible for Sunday

Richmond, Va. (WRIC) -- Clear skies will be with us for this evening and tonight and it will be a very cold night with lows in the middle to upper teens but when you factor in the wind it will feel more like 10 to 15.

We will start your Friday off with plenty of sunshine, however a few clouds will move in during the afternoon making it partly sunny. It will be a chilly day with highs near 40 but with that breeze it will feel more like the middle 30s.

A weak weather system will slide across Central Virginia early Saturday morning providing clouds and the risk of a few passing showers. That system will move out by the late morning and by the afternoon we should be looking at some sunshine breaking out across the region. It will be a seasonable day with highs in the upper 40s.

The next concern is the chance for snow on Sunday, but the models are not in the greatest of agreement right now. At this point in time, it does look like this system will slide farther east but there should still be some snow across I-95 and points east. Closer to the coast we will see more of a mixture of rain and snow. In terms of accumulations, it is still just a bit too early to be able to accurately tell who will get what, but I will say it does look like accumulations will be very light. Our high temperatures on Sunday will top out in the middle 30s.

Monday is Martin Luther King Jr Day, and the sunshine will return to Central Virginia with highs in the upper 30s.

Tuesday will be a chilly day with highs near 32 under mostly sunny skies.

Wednesday will also feature mostly sunny skies, and it will remain chilly with highs in the middle 30s.

Looking ahead to next Thursday and Friday another weather system will approach the region and that could bring us the chance of some showers with highs in the lower to Middle 40s.
