StormTracker8: Very cold tonight; drip faucets
Richmond, Va (WRIC) -- For the remainder of this current weekend, Central Virginia will be under an Arctic Airmass, details below.
Tonight’s forecast for this Saturday night into Sunday morning, calls for clear skies, very cold temperatures, getting down to around 10 degrees in Metro Richmond, which means outside of the Metro region, we will see isolated locations get down into the single digits, so definitely drip your faucets tonight. The gusty winds we have been seeing all day Saturday will finally slowly diminish throughout the overnight hours.
Tomorrow’s forecast for our Sunday calls for partly sunny skies, cold temperatures, getting up to around 30 degrees in Metro Richmond, which means outside of the Metro region, we will see isolated locations struggling to hit 30 degrees tomorrow afternoon. It will be a bit breezy on Sunday, but it’s not expected to be gusty like it was on our Saturday. Also, can’t rule out some snow flurries across isolated locations in Central Virginia, but this is not expected to bring impacts or accumulations to the region.
Looking ahead to Monday of next work and school week, we will see mostly sunny skies and temperatures approaching 40 degrees in the afternoon, which will lead to more melting of that lingering snow/ice on the ground from the recent Winter Storms.
Tuesday and Wednesday of next work week, I put “Nicer” on these days, as we will see temperatures back into the 50s, which will lead to significant melting of that lingering snow/ice on the ground from the recent Winter Storms.
Next Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and the following Sunday, all bring temperatures back into the 40s, with multiple chances for showers and/or snow flurries, as the uncertainty remains high during this time.
