StormTracker8: Very hot and very humid until Wednesday
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) – Today is now day 4 of our current Heat Wave across Central Virginia, and we will see 2 additional days of these dangerous weather conditions as well for the new week. More on the High Heat and High Humidity below.
Today’s forecast calls for mostly sunny skies and muggy temperatures throughout the morning hours on this Monday, transitioning over to partly sunny skies and very hot temperatures throughout the afternoon hours with highs in the middle 90s, heat index values upwards of 105 degrees.
Due to these ongoing dangerous weather conditions, there’s another Heat Advisory in place for a portion of the 8 News Viewing area. There is also a low possibility of a shower or two in southern Virginia this afternoon and evening.
Tonight’s forecast calls for mostly clear skies and muggy temperatures, getting down into the middle 70s.
Tuesday’s forecast brings us another very hot and humid day to Central Virginia, under partly sunny skies, highs in the middle to upper 90s and heat index values of 105-109 degrees, likely prompting another Heat Advisory for a portion of Central Virginia.
Wednesday’s forecast will be the final day of this current heat wave across Central Virginia, with highs in the middle to upper 90s, heat index values of 105-109 degrees under partly sunny skies.
Thursday is when we begin to see changes to the weather pattern, with a strong surface cold front for late July standards approaching us from our northwest and sweeping through the area bringing relief from the high heat and high humidity to end out this week. This front will also trigger scattered showers and storms under mostly cloudy skies and highs in the lower 90s, heat index values of around 100 degrees on Thursday afternoon.
Friday is the first day of August, and it will not feel at all like August, on the back end of this surface cold frontal passage, with highs only rising into the lower to middle 80s under mostly cloudy skies and more scattered showers and storms in the forecast.
The upcoming weekend for August 2nd and August 3rd is looking fantastic right now on both days, with highs in the lower to middle 80s, lower humidity levels under partly sunny skies.
Finally, the following Monday, we will see highs around 85 degrees, tolerable humidity levels, under partly sunny skies and possible isolated showers.
TRACKING THE TROPICS – No tropical development is expected over the next 7 days out in the Atlantic Ocean.
