StormTracker8: Very hot and very humid weather is back
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) – The return of intense heat and intense humidity is back in the Central Virginia weather forecast over the next several afternoons. More on this top weather story below.
After a sunny and muggy start today, we will see partly sunny skies this afternoon and very hot and very humid conditions with high temperatures rising into the middle to upper 90s, and the heat index values upwards of 105 degrees.
Due to these very hot and very humid weather conditions returning to the forecast, we are under a Heat Advisory today until 8 p.m. this evening. Take it easy outdoors today, drink lots of water, take frequent breaks, seek the shade, seek the air conditioning, find ways to cool off and stay safe everyone.
Tonight, into our Saturday morning, features mostly clear skies and very muggy overnight temperatures, getting down into the middle 70s.
Saturday and Sunday for the weekend ahead, both look very similar, under partly sunny skies both days, highs in the middle to upper 90s, and the heat index values upwards of 105 degrees and the return of late day thunderstorm chances. Any storms that develop on Saturday afternoon and on Sunday afternoon will bring the possibility of quick heavy downpours, gusty winds and frequent lightning.
Turning our attention to next Monday, to kick off the new work week, next week, we will see partly sunny skies, very hot and humid conditions continuing, with highs in the middle 90s and the heat index values upwards of 105 degrees.
Next Tuesday and next Wednesday, both look very similar, under partly sunny skies both days, with highs in the middle to upper 90s, and the heat index values upwards of 105 degrees with late day thunderstorm chances as well.
Finally, next Thursday and next Friday, call for a cold front to sweep through late next work week and this will bring some relief from the heat and humidity, as temperatures fall back into the 80s for high temperatures with a much better chance for showers and thunderstorms.
TRACKING THE TROPICS: There’s an ongoing tropical disturbance in the Gulf, with a very low (10%) chance of tropical development, as this disorganized system heads towards the Texas coastline. No impacts are expected from this at all for us here in Central Virginia.
