StormTracker8: VIPIR Alert Day with Second Winter Storm

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) – It's another snow day across Central Virginia, and some areas could see even more snow today than they did on Friday.

It's another VIPIR Alert day as we track our second snow of the season. Most counties south of I-64 are under a winter storm warning. These locations are the ones we are monitoring to receive 4-6 inches of snow by the end of the day. The entirety of Central Virginia is forecast to receive at least 2 inches of snow.

Today's event will be snow only, no sleet or wintry mix. The snowfall will begin in western counties around 6am, and by 8am metro Richmond will see flurries. Light to moderate snowfall will continue across most of the state until sunset. Then, coverage will drop. The snow is expected to wrap up by 9pm for coastal counties.

Temperatures will stick to freezing all day.

Early tomorrow morning, lows will plummet to the teens and low 20s. This will provide dangerous driving conditions across the region, so please make plans to leave early and clear your car of ice and snow for your Tuesday plans.

Highs for Tuesday will be in the low to mid 30s. We do not have any precipitation in the forecast for tomorrow.

Wednesday and Thursday and projected to be dry, but chilly. We could see another chance for precipitation at the end of the week, but chances are slim as things stand. This weekend is currently forecast to be dry and cold.
