Support veterans at ‘Blue Thunder’ Veterans Day Tribute and Motorcycle Ride
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- 8News got a visit from two special guests with the Iota Sigma Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. on Thursday to talk about their upcoming Veterans Day Tribute and Motorcycle Ride happening this weekend.
8News anchors Delaney Hall and Madison Moore were joined by Colonel Retired Rob Barnes, Military Affairs Chair, and Sergeant Major Retired Rahsan Mitchell, a Military Affairs committee member, to talk about what people can expect.
"The key to it is, recognizing veterans," Barnes said. "So what we have is a love affair between motorcycles and also acknowledging our veterans."
In addition to the motorcycle ride, which all local motorcyclists are encouraged to come out for, there is a program where people will be informed about veterans and the purpose of Veterans Day.
The event will take place at the Virginia War Memorial on Saturday, Nov. 1, with rider registration beginning at 10 a.m. and the ceremony beginning at 11 a.m.
This tribute will also raise money to go towards organizations that help those in need who have been involved in military service.
