Suspect faces manslaughter charge after woman hit by four cars, killed in Chesterfield
CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A suspect who was recently arrested and charged with a felony in relation to a deadly hit-and-run crash involving four cars will now face an additional manslaughter charge.
According to the Chesterfield County Police Department, 27-year-old Krystal Parker was killed after being hit by four vehicles while crossing Hull Street Road in Chesterfield during the early hours of Sunday, Aug. 10.
Parker was walking westbound along Hull Street Road near Turner Road at around 2 a.m. when she was hit by multiple vehicles. Police said the first two drivers fled the scene, while the drivers of the other two vehicles stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
The first driver, identified as 27-year-old Karen Palma Martinez, was found near Mockingbird Lane. The second driver, 33-year-old Kevin Bingham, was found at a nearby gas station, according to officials.
Authorities said both Martinez and Bingham were intoxicated at the time of the crash. They were both charged with driving under the influence and felony hit-and-run. At the time, they were taken to Chesterfield County Jail, but were later released on bond.
In addition to the initial charges, police said that, after meeting with the Commonwealth's Attorney's Office, Martinez has also been charged with DUI Manslaughter in relation to the crash. She was arrested on Wednesday, Aug. 13.
Police have not said whether the two drivers who stayed at the scene will face charges.
