Suspect in several Orange hit-and-runs arrested after chase
ORANGE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A 21-year-old suspect in several hit-and-runs was arrested after the Orange County Sheriff's Office says he fled authorities, hitting four cars as he did so, including one of the office's own SUVs. According to the sheriff's office, on Thursday, Oct. 24, its deputies assisted the Gordonsville Police Department with a pursuit on Route 15 involving a suspect associated with multiple Gordonsville-area hit-and-runs. Deputies intercepted the suspect, identified as 21-year-old Connor Dominick Woodall of the Rhoadesville area, in a parking lot in the town of Orange. According to the office, while the parking lot appeared to have no exit, authorities said Woodall "created his own path" out, hitting four vehicles as he did so. One of them was a Sheriff's Office SUV. Orange County Walmart employee in hospital after authorities say customer assaulted them "After the successful deployment of a tire deflation device, the driver continued north on Route 20, moving at a slow crawl with four flat tires and damage from six separate accidents," the sheriff's office said of what came next. The pursuit reportedly ended when Woodall drove into a ditch near the local airport. "Not ready to give up, the driver made one last attempt to evade capture by fleeing through the passenger window," the sheriff's office said. "After a short 20-yard foot chase, this modern-day Houdini was finally taken into custody." Woodall has been hit with several charges, including: Two counts of felony eluding Three counts of felony hit-and-run Three counts of misdemeanor hit-and-run One count of driving without a license One count of reckless driving One count of running a stop sign One count of refusing to give a breath/blood sample According to the sheriff's office, Woodall is being held without bond.
