Thousands of Central Virginia homes, businesses were without power Wednesday during heat wave

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Thousands of homes and businesses were without power in Central Virginia amid an extreme heat wave on Wednesday.

At the outage's peak on Wednesday, June 25, Dominion Energy reported that more than 12,000 homes and businesses in the Greater Richmond Region were experiencing power outages.

These power issues came as Central Virginia faced heat index values in the triple digits this week.

Power had since been restored to nearly all affected areas by the morning on Thursday, June 26, according Dominion Energy's website.
