Three more people charged for attempted $1.1 million drug smuggling
GOOCHLAND COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Three more people have been charged with their role in attempting to smuggle approximately $1.1 million of drugs into the Virginia Correctional Center for Women.
The Virginia Department of Corrections (VADOC) reported on Dec. 15 that they have added eight more charges filed against three people in the $1.1 million attempted drug smuggling case. One of the people charged is a current inmate at the Virginia Correctional Center for Women.
Former corrections officer arrested for attempted smuggling of over $1M worth of narcotics
On Oct. 23, 2025, special agents with the Office of Law Enforcement Services (OLES) arrested April Parrott, a former corrections sergeant with the Virginia Correctional Center for Women, and five other people. They faced 13 charges following the indictments by a grand jury in Goochland County Circuit Court.
“Drugs and illegal contraband have no place at all in our prisons and our Office of Law Enforcement Services (OLES) is working hand-in-hand with our staff inside, around the clock, to keep our facilities safe and secure,” said Virginia Department of Corrections (VADOC) Director Chad Dotson. “I thank them for their continued persistence with this investigation.”
