Three pet birds, multiple cats killed in Chesterfield house fire
CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Three pet birds and multiple cats are dead after a Thursday afternoon house fire in Chesterfield County.
Just before 4:15 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 6, firefighters with Chesterfield County Fire and EMS were called to a home in the 17100 block of Lansmill Drive for a report of a structure fire.
When they arrived, crews found flames coming from a one-story house. Photos from the scene show smoke pouring from the roof.
Firefighters were able to put out the fire within half an hour.

No people were hurt as a result of the fire. While two dogs were able to escape the home, sadly, three birds and multiple cats died.
Suspect in VSU shooting now in custody after month-long search
The fire's damage, which appears to be substantial, has displaced two residents. They are being assisted by family, fire officials said.
At this time, the cause of the fire is under investigation. No additional information is available as of the time of reporting.
