Toddler dies after rescue at Henrico pond on freezing day
HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A toddler is dead after he was pulled from a Henrico County pond on an extremely cold Monday afternoon.
At about 1:40 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 26, officers with the Henrico County Police Division were called to the 12300 block of Shore View Drive for report of a medical emergency involving a toddler boy who had been rescued from a nearby pond.
When they arrived, officers found the toddler unconscious. He was receiving CPR from first responders with the Henrico County Division of Fire.
The boy was taken to a local hospital for treatment, where he later died.

A man was also treated at the scene for possible hypothermia.

This incident took place on a below-freezing day following a dangerous snow and ice storm.

"Detectives within the Criminal Investigations Section are working to determine how this incident unfolded," police said.
