Tractor-trailer driver dies after single-vehicle crash on I-295 in Hanover

HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A tractor-trailer driver is dead after a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 295 in Hanover on early Sunday morning.

On Sunday, April 5, at 4:49 a.m., Virginia State Police (VSP) responded to a tractor-trailer crash on I-295 near the Pocahontas Parkway exit in Hanover.

The preliminary investigation has indicated that a tractor-trailer, transporting milk, was driving north when it ran off the right side of the road and hit a disabled, unoccupied vehicle on the shoulder.

The tractor-trailer continued driving, where it then went through the guard rail and struck multiple trees.

Henrico Fire and Rescue crews pronounced the driver dead at the scene.

The two right northbound lanes are closed while crews work to clear the scene

VSP officials stated that the crash is under investigation.
