Tractor-trailer driver dies after single-vehicle crash on I-95 in Greensville

GREENSVILLE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A tractor-trailer driver is dead after a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 95 in Greensville County on Wednesday afternoon.

Virginia State Police troopers said the crash took place at about 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 19, on I-95 South at the 12-mile marker at the Route 301 exit in Greensville.

Police said an initial investigation shows a tractor-trailer was heading southbound on I-95 when it ran off the ride of the road, hit multiple trees and overturned.

The driver of the tractor-trailer was ejected and died at the scene.

Their identity is pending notification of next of kin.

All southbound lanes on I-95 near the scene of the crash were closed for an extended period of time on Wednesday. VDOT reported the lanes reopened and the scene clear shortly after 5:30 p.m.
