Tractor-trailer overturns on Matoaca Road in Chesterfield, spilling material
CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A tractor-trailer overturned on Matoaca Road in Chesterfield County Tuesday afternoon, after which officials said some of its contents spilled onto the road.
In the afternoon on Tuesday, Dec. 23, officers with the Chesterfield County Police Department responded to the 6100 block of Matoaca Road for the report of a crash.
When officers arrived, they found a tractor-trailer that had overturned, with some of the materials inside spilling onto the road.
Police said the driver was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Chesterfield Fire and EMS Hazmat crews also responded to the scene to assess the spill. Officials said the materials that spilled are nontoxic and not harmful.
According to the Virginia Department of Transportation, drivers in the area should expect delays, as multiple lanes were closed, as of 2:05 p.m. on Monday.
