Traffic alerts in place ahead of Ashland Half-Marathon and 5K
HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- The Ashland Police Department (APD) has released several traffic alerts ahead of the Ashland Half-Marathon and 5K set to take place this weekend.
The races will take place from 7 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 23 in and around the town.
As a result, the following intersections will be significantly impacted, as provided by police:
- England Street and Center Street (Mile 1) -- 7 to 7:30 a.m.
- S. James Street and Hanover Ave. (Mile 2.5) -- 7:08 to 7:30 a.m.
- Hanover Ave. and Elmont Rd. (Mile 3.25) -- 7:20 to 8 a.m.
- Yowell Rd. and Elmont Rd. (Mile 3.75 & Mile 4.75) -- 7:30 to 8:20 a.m.
- Yowell Rd. and Blanton Rd. (Mile 6.25) -- 8 to 8:40 a.m.
- Blanton Rd. at Winston Rd. (Mile 7.5) -- 8 to 9 a.m.
- Blanton Rd. and Route 54 (Mile 8.25) -- 8 to 9 a.m.
- Blanton Rd. and Independence Rd. (Mile 9) -- 8 to 9:20 a.m.
- Independence Rd. and Blunts Bridge Road (Mile 10) -- 8 to 9:30 a.m.
- N. James Street between Henry Clay Road and Carter Forest Drive -- 7 to 10:30 a.m.
Additionally, members of APD, the Hanover County Sheriff's Office, Hanover CERT and race volunteers will be out to help direct traffic.
